Introduction

Xtheater is a Media Player for linux capable of playing MPEG video and audio files, network streams, and VCDs, as well as AVI and ASF files. It accompishes this through the use of libaviplay and smpeg. It tries to keep things simple and straightforward to provide the simplest, most stable behavior as possilbe, while at the same time offering a nice featureset. This User's guide can be used as a, hopefully, comprehensive guide on how the program can be used. I have tried to design the program such that it was pretty much straightforward, and the behavior people grow to expect from other programs is largely emulated in Xtheater. For example, keyboard shortcuts from many other programs are supported so that hitting buttons you have grown used to should do what they did in your other programs. In particular, users of xine, aviplay, mplayer, and Windows Media Player have been considered, and most programs that have keyboard shortcuts are pretty close to these.
